Safety Guidelines
Celebrate brightly, celebrate safely
Before you begin
- Read the instructions printed on every box
- Choose a wide open area away from buildings, dry grass, vehicles and overhead cables
- Keep two buckets of water and a bucket of sand within arm's reach
- Wear cotton clothing β synthetics catch fire easily
While lighting
- Light one cracker at a time, at arm's length, using a long agarbatti
- Stand back immediately after lighting and never lean over a cracker
- Never hold a cracker in your hand except sparklers designed for it
- Never relight a cracker that failed to ignite β soak it in water after 15 minutes
Children
- An adult must supervise at all times, without exception
- Give younger children only sparklers, pop-pops and low-noise items
- Teach them to hold sparklers away from the body and drop spent ones in water
Storage
- Store in a cool, dry place away from sunlight, flames and electrical points
- Keep the box closed and out of reach of children
- Never store crackers near the area where you are lighting them
If something goes wrong
For minor burns, hold the area under cool running water for 10 minutes and cover with a clean cloth. For anything worse β or for any eye injury β go to a hospital immediately. Do not apply ointment, ice or home remedies.
